The beds were comfortable with lots of additional bedding supplied, plus a heater and a fan in each room. Both rooms had a TV and a dish box, but none of them worked and the batteries were dead in half of the remotes. The cupboards were also difficult to open/close, but that is understandable given they were pretty dated. Still operational though. I think ownership may have changed in the last week, as the service at the restaurant the second visit was a tad shambolic - the food was good on both visits though. There were two side lamps in the room - one was damaged and the other didn't work at all, but plenty of other lighting. The couches were quite uncomfortable as they were pull-out sofas, and seemed to be missing some cushions. Lastly, the bathroom did not have an extractor fan so everything was covered in a thin layer of moisture when I got out of the shower - definitely something to be wary of given the slippery linoleum floor.
Given they allow dogs it would be great to have a double ranch slider or door with an insect mesh/grate on one, so you can have a cross breeze going without the dogs being able to escape. Having a fully fenced area where dogs can play off leash given the proximity to SH1 would be great. Also, given they allow dogs but don't let them on the furniture, it would be great if they had some dog crates that you could rent (maybe at an additional cost?) so that we don't have to bring our own.
This motel is under new management and the owners are very keen to upgrade. We stayed because it was dog friendly.
The restaurant is large with a space outside to eat. The food served is very generous and we were surprised at the amount and that old favourites were on the menu. The fish of the day was particularly delicious. The owners have an exciting opportunity to develop the restaurant into a place that travellers will want to stop at as there isn't much else in Turangi.
Booked weeks in advance, requesting ground floor access (for disabled person). No mention in the confirmation that access to the rooms required walking up multiple stairs. ||Wifi was an important factor in deciding where to stay. The …
Staff were very polite and friendly. Room was dated but still clean. It was reasonably priced for early Jan. Took a lovely walk in to the small town center, buying a lovely coffee from a coffee cart by the main road. Menu in the evening was limited, especially for vegetarians but hot and tasty so no complaints. Thank you Deepak and team
Lovely motel very friendly staff and very clean rooms with comfy beds. The restaurant is excellent with fresh food well prepared. The serves are very generous.|Across the road there is a great loop walking or biking track. Great place to stay if you are into trout fishing.
Have stayed here for a few years now on our trips up and down the island. Brilliant location, great for dogs, and a pub with food on the premises. What’s not to like?

We stayed overnight on a trip to Auckland. Our room was clean and tidy and the facilities were adequate for our needs. The TV was good and the Wifi was good too. The grounds were well maintained and there was ample parking. For those interested in Trout Fishing, the Tongariro River runs past the motel grounds (refer to photos).
Had dinner here on a Tuesday night. They were not that busy but service was very bad.
Food was average.
